1. Scope
This Policy applies to personal information processed when you visit our marketing site, use the QuickSnip browser extension, use our dashboard, or contact us. It does not cover third-party websites or services you choose to connect to (for example, Google or Microsoft mail services); those providers’ own policies apply there.
2. Personal information we collect
Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect or receive:
- Account and identity data: such as name, email address, identifiers assigned by our authentication provider (Clerk), and profile metadata you choose to add.
- Product usage and content you save: snippet titles, shortcuts, template bodies, folder structure, and related settings you store through the dashboard or sync features.
- Extension context (local): the extension generally needs access to the browser tabs/pages where you invoke it so it can insert text you select. We design QuickSnip to minimize what leaves your device—see Section 4.
- Transactional and billing data: subscription plan, billing cycle, payment status, and limited payment-related identifiers processed by Stripe; QuickSnip does not store full payment card numbers on our servers.
- Technical and diagnostic data: IP address, approximate location derived from IP, browser type, device identifiers, timestamps, cookie or similar data, and diagnostic logs for security and reliability.
- Communications: messages you send us (for example, support emails).
3. Sources
We obtain personal information from:
- You, when you sign up, use the Service, or communicate with us.
- our service providers (for example, authentication events from Clerk).
- Automated technologies when you interact with our sites (see Cookies).
4. How we use personal information
We process personal information to:
- Provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service.
- Create and manage your account; authenticate you.
- Process payments and fulfill subscriptions; send operational notices (including billing).
- Provide customer support and respond to your requests.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.
- Analyze aggregated or de-identified use patterns to improve the product (where permitted by law).
We do not use your QuickSnip template content to train generalized public-AI models, and we do not sell your personal information as “sale” is commonly defined under the CCPA (see Section 9).
5. Disclosure and subprocessors
We may share personal information with:
- Service providers / processors who assist us under contract, including:
- Clerk — authentication and account security.
- Stripe — payment processing and related fraud prevention.
- Vercel — hosting and delivery of our web application.
- Neon — managed database storage for account and product data.
- Slack Technologies (optional internal use) — operational notifications to our team (for example, high-level new-account alerts), not for marketing to you.
- Analytics — we may use Vercel Web Analytics (privacy-friendly, aggregated pageview metrics on our marketing site).
- Legal and safety: where required by law, subpoena, or court order, or where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or security.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to appropriate safeguards and notice where required.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We and our providers may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for session management, security, preferences, and analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling certain cookies may limit functionality (for example, staying signed in).
7. Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls on production systems. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure; we encourage you to use a strong, unique password and enable any optional security features offered by your authentication provider.
8. Retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. If you delete your account or ask us to delete certain data (where applicable), we will delete or de-identify it unless we must retain limited records for legal, security, or legitimate business purposes (for example, financial records).
9. United States — California and state privacy rights
QuickSnip is based in the United States. If you are a California resident, the CCPA may grant you the right to:
- Know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
- Delete personal information we hold, subject to exceptions.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, where applicable.
- Not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights.
CCPA categories (illustrative): Identifiers; commercial information; internet or network activity; geolocation (IP-based); professional or employment-related information (if you provide it in templates or profile); inferences (limited, for security or product operation). We do not knowingly sell personal information, and we do not knowingly “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising through the subprocessors listed above in a manner that constitutes a “sale/share” under the CCPA based on our current configuration—but we will update this Policy if that changes.
Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws may have similar rights. Submit requests using the contact information below; we will verify your request in accordance with applicable law.
10. Choices and requests
To exercise privacy rights, email support@quicksnip.online with “Privacy Request” in the subject line, the email associated with your account, and a description of what you need. We may need additional information to verify you. You may also use an authorized agent where permitted by law, subject to verification.
11. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
12. International users
If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate, which may have different data protection rules than your country.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date and, where changes are material, provide additional notice as required by law.
